"On October 17, we are releasing the first part of Vada Chennai. We already have 20% footage of the second part of the film but the shoot for remaining portions will commence in 2019. Meanwhile, Vetri and I will be working on a new film and the shoot will kick start by next week," revealed Dhanush.

"I have been working with Vetrimaaran again and again because he remained the same in my success and failures. Moreover, he gives me the space to establish myself as a performer in every film," added the actor.

"As Vetri said, we discussed to start Vada Chennai after Polladhavan but shelved the idea as the film required a massive budget. Later, Vetri wanted to do the film with STR and I asked him to go ahead but he wanted me to play a role which only has 40 minutes scope. I told Vetri that I'm okay with STR playing the lead role in the film but I'm not magnanimous enough to play the secondary character," added Dhanush.

Dhanush also said that Ameer was initially roped in to play a brief cameo but Vetrimaaran has now made it into a full-fledged role that it is almost on par with his character in the film. Heaping praise on Aishwarya Rajesh, Dhanush said: "It was impressive to see Aishwarya Rajesh performing bold scenes in crowded space without any inhibitions. I had my own doubts about Andrea that whether she would suit for her North Chennai backdrop but Vetri had the conviction and she has done a commendable job. Andrea actually has more scope in the second part of the film".

Mani Ratnam is a big inspiration for many Tamil filmmakers. Today just like fanboys, both Karthick Naren and Gautham Menon watched the first-day-first-show of Chekka Chivantha Vaanam in Chennai. After watching the film, both the filmmakers raved about Mani Ratnam and his ability to handle an ensemble of actors in the film.

“#ChekkaChivanthaVaanam is a masterstroke by Mani sir. Such conviction in story telling. Beautifully crafted film with outstanding performances by the ensemble cast. Take a bow!”, tweeted Karthick who watched the 5 AM show at GK Cinemas in Chennai.

“Mani sir& his brilliant ensemble cast set the screens on fire with a bold new character sketch in cinema for each of the characters. A master craftsman at work& it’s almost like he’s having fun etching out hard hitting content& throwing all rules out the window! CCV-RUSH(for it). Str is honest& real, Arun is edgy&flamboyant, VS is fun, local& raw, Jyotika is intense and makes it look so easy, Arvind is powerhouse and is in one of the best fight sequences seen in tamil cinema in a long while and ARR freaks out on the score. Hit or miss? Multi-starrer films in Tamil cinema

Tomorrow, (September 27) Mani Ratnam's multistarrer Chekka Chivantha Vaanam is releasing worldwide. Here are some of the notable multi-starrers released in the last three decades.

Though Tamil filmmakers had made brilliant movies featuring two stars, only a few pulled off the multi-starrer movies. In Tamil cinema, stars feel insecure to share screen space with more than one actor of their gender as they think that their individual screen time in the film would be reduced. For example, we have witnessed double hero films like Kuruthi Punal, Vikram Vedha, Thani Oruvan, Anbe Sivam, Iruvar and triangular love stories in Tamil but multistarrer is a rarity.

In order to assemble a multi-starrer project, the director plays a key role because stars give their nods only to celebrated filmmakers. Let's take a look…

Pranitha Subhash enjoys keeping in touch with fans

Actress Pranitha Subhash says she likes to stay in touch with her fans, but wants to add a personal touch to the whole experience.

For this, she has come out with her personal app. Pranitha launched the Pranitha Subhash Official App in collaboration with New York-based tech firm EscapeX, read a statement.

"I am really excited to be launching my very own app. I have always enjoyed keeping in touch with my fans and interacting with them but with this, we take it one step ahead since it's so personalised," Pranitha said.

"I'm hoping to keep it very interactive and I promise to keep checking it as often as possible. I will have a lot of contests, lots of fun and it's going to be much more than film promotions. I am really excited about this," added the actress, who has worked in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil films.

'Sandakozhi 2' all set to release on October 18

Speaking at the media meet of Sandakozhi 2, Vishal said that the first part itself wasn't written for him. "The first part of the film was actually written for Vijay and Suriya. As Lingusamy worked under my father's production, I got the courage to ask him to make Sandakozhi with me and he readily agreed. Thanks to Sandakozhi, I became an action hero in my second film. Not only in Tamil but also earned a good market in Tollywood with Sandakozhi. I should also thank my father because he didn't sell the Telugu remake rights and believed in me", recalled Vishal.

"What is more special is that Sandakozhi 2 has become my landmark 25th film. As Shanmugarajan said, we always wanted to act in a series of films like God Father, I guess Sandakozhi has the scope of churning out a series of films", added Vishal.

The actor said that Keerthy Suresh will soon win National Award for Mahanati. "I'm sure Keerthy will soon direct a film. Even before my directorial debut, Keerthy will make her debut as a filmmaker", said Vishal who also heaped praise on Varalakshmi.

"First, I wanted to keep Varalakshmi's role as a top secret but with Lingusamy's permission, I'm revealing that audiences will forget all our roles but Varu's character will stay in their minds forever", revealed the actor who also added that Sandakozhi 2 will be his biggest release that the film will hit the screens in Tamil and Telugu around 2000 screens.

"I was tensed when Lingusamy approached me for Sandakozhi 2 because, in the first part, the way Meera Jasmine madam performed her role was incredible. But after the narration, I felt confident because the character is on par with Meera Jasmine's role. After Mahanati, I really enjoyed working in Sandakozhi 2", said Keerthy.

The film's director Lingusamy said: "Both Vishal and I waited for nearly thirteen years because we needed a strong script. In thirteen years, Vishal has improved a lot as a performer. Vishal doesn't prepare much for the shoot because he is a natural performer. As I had also worked with top performers like Mammootty, Suriya, Vikram, and Ajith, I can say that Vishal has given a commendable performance in Sandakozhi 2. I believe that the sequel will get the same respect and reception as the first part".

"I never felt working with a young actress in Sandakozhi 2. After watching Keerthy's performance in Mahanati, I felt like working with Savithri in Sandakozhi 2. I almost became a PRO to Keerthy, she is a very sharp actress and everyone who has seen the film raved about her performance. Some of the biggest challenges in writing the script of Sandakozhi 2 is to find a right actress in place of Meera Jasmine, intermission block and the climax", added Lingusamy.

Sandakozhi 2 is all set to release on October 18.

There is something different about his craft, the way he conducts himself on a movie set, the way he treats each and every individual on the set. "He is a man of vision and mission on set, he exactly knows what he wants from a particular character and has the ability to make sure the artiste portrays the same on camera."

She plays Chaaya, who is a free spirited and adventurous girl, in the crime thriller.

I grew a thick beard and didn’t cut my hair that even some of my friends asked whether anything bad happened in my life. First, I shed weight and later bulked up to play the Tamil king. The trailer is being compared with Baahubali which is a proud moment for us. I play a Tamil king in the film which is again a rare opportunity for an actor”.
