Vijay Sethupathi- Surya Sethupathi play petty thieves in 'Sindhubaadh'

In his upcoming film Sindhubaadh, Vijay Sethupathi shares screen space with his son Surya Sethupathi. Now, the film’s director Arunkumar has revealed that Vijay Sethupathi and Suriya will be seen as petty thieves in Sindhubaadh.

Sethupathi has a hearing problem in the film that only high decibel sound would be audible to him whereas Anjali's problem is her loud voice. The film is all about how two petty thieves who go to a foreign country get into huge trouble.

Arunkumar says that he pitched the script to more than eleven heroes including Vikram, Karthi, 'Jayam' Ravi and Udhayanidhi before Vijay Sethupathi came on board. The shoot of the film is over and the final output is ready. As one of the producers K Productions' Rajarajan is stuck in a legal battle with Arka Media Works, the release is getting delayed.

Ever since I saw 'Pink', I've wanted to work with Taapsee. I'm glad everything fell in place for this project and I'm excited to be working with her. Arjun: The screenplay of 'Kolaigaran' is fantabulous

At the media meet of Kolaigaran, Arjun who plays a cop in the film said that the screenplay of director Andrew Louis is fantabulous. "In my experience, more than what directors write on the paper, the way they present their story on screen matters a lot. Andrew has presented the story of Kolaigaran so well that it looks ten times better than what he narrated me long back", said Arjun.

Arjun also showered praise on Vijay Antony for being humble. "But Vijay lied to me and said he doesn't know what on-screen chemistry is all about! Now after watching the romantic songs, whatever Vijay says is a blatant lie", laughed the actor.

"I chose scripts based on the totality of the film. In Kolaigaran, all the characters are powerful and take the film to the next level. The technical crew has also done a great job", said Arjun.

At the media meet, Vijay Antony also praised director Andrew for the slick presentation and completed the film on the promised budget. The makers screened trailer, two songs, and a sneak peek at the media meet.

The film is all set to release in May.

From his debut film Kuttipuli, director Muthaiah has often been blamed for glorifying ‘Devar’ community in his films and his upcoming movie with Gautham Karthik has been titled as Devarattam which is all set to release on May 1.

At the media meet of the film, Muthaiah said: “Devarattam is not a caste-based film, I haven’t glorified any community. Devarattam means a dance performed after tasting the success, it doesn’t represent any caste”.

“My film actually talks about the sister-brother bonding and the common man’s anger towards the cruel things happening against women in the society”, added Muthaiah.

Muthaiah also heaped praise on Gautham Karthik for his dedication. “Only because of the cooperation of the team, we completed the film within fifty-three days”, said the director.

The film's producer Gnanavel said, "When I made Attakathi, people said Ranjith is representing one set of community and the same happened to Muthaiah. The thing is these directors make films based on the locality where they grew up, they are not glorifying any particular community".

Shooting for Kanchana 3 was like holiday: Vedhika

Actress Vedhika says shooting for forthcoming Tamil horror-comedy Kanchana 3, the fourth part in the widely popular Kanchana franchise, was like going on a big holiday and she considers the movie a great addition to her filmography.

Vedhika has returned to the franchise, which kicked off with the 2007 film Muni, after a decade and she can't be more excited. Kanchana 3, which has been directed by Raghava Lawrence, releases on April 19 worldwide.

"When I did Muni, I was very young and didn't know anything about filmmaking. Back then, Lawrence master was very popular for his dance-based films and I thought I was being called for another dance film. But when I heard the story, I thought this was something new. The story was about a hero who is generally afraid. It was a character I could relate to so much because I get easily scared in real life," Vedhika told IANS.

"When Lawrence master again called me after so many years and said we should do this film, I thought it would be a great addition to my filmography. With Kanchana 3, I was getting an opportunity to do something really commercial and I didn't want to miss it. It's a film very close to my heart," she said.

Talking about the experience of working on the project, Vedhika said: "I gave most call sheets to this movie. I shot for 70 days but I never realised how time flew because we were having so much fun shooting. It was like I was on a big holiday."

Vedhika also feels Kanchana 3 would mark her strong return to Tamil filmdom after a hiatus. Her last Tamil outing was the 2014 critically-acclaimed Kaaviya Thalaivan.

"It was not like I wasn't getting any offers in Tamil in the last few years. I didn't want to do films which were not exciting. I have always been quality conscious when it comes to choosing projects," she said, adding that she has signed a couple of Tamil films.

"I started acting when I was very young and I had to take a break after 2-3 films to complete my education. I was fortunate enough to work with filmmakers like Bala and Vasantha Balan quite early on. I've always been careful about the films I did. Kanchana 3 couldn't have come at a better time and it was a fun film to do."

This year, Vedhika will make her Bollywood debut with a yet-untitled thriller starring Emraan Hashmi. The project has been directed by Jeethu Joseph.

"It's exciting to debut all over again. It's a new industry and it means new opportunities and new people. I'm paired opposite Emraan and he is one of my favourite actors. The film also stars Rishi Kapoor and I'm fortunate enough to share screen space with him as well," she said.

Iniya: Glammed up for a role!

Iniya is now upbeat about her new film Coffee in which she plays a bold and daring cop. The actress says, "The film has a good scope for the female lead and I'm happy to play a character which has so much potential to prove my talent. Hoping Coffee will be the next step for me in Tamil cinema".

Iniya is also acting in a Malayalam film titled Taakol in which Prithviraj's brother Indrajith plays the lead role. The actress has also finished shooting for Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar's new film Drona.

The actress hopes that 2019 will be a fruitful year for her.
